Journey through the Jungle

The Metis Mobilities Program is an artistic endeavor fueled by the collaborative efforts of the Fanak Fund and AFD, the French Development Agency. Spearheaded by Urunwa Art Studio and the talented Mexican artist, Priscilla Martinez, this cultural exchange initiative unfolds amidst the vibrant streets of Mexico City, Mexico.

This project immerses itself in the lives of migrant children in transit. Together, artists and children weave a visual tapestry, a mural that encapsulates the trials and triumphs of their migrant journey. This collaborative artwork serves as a testament to resilience and the universal human experience.

At its core, the Metis Mobilities Program fosters encounters between artists selected from the Metis Art and Development Fund. These artists embark on a journey of exploration, delving into unfamiliar territories, engaging with diverse communities, and exchanging knowledge and skills. Through this process, they not only enrich their own artistic pursuits but also contribute to the cultural fabric of the regions they traverse.

In partnership with the Network for the Rights of Children in Mexico (REDIM) and Casa Fuente Mexico, the project extends its reach beyond artistic expression. It becomes a platform for advocacy, amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and advocating for the rights and dignity of migrant children.

Thus, the Metis Mobilities Program: Journey Through the Jungle transcends geographical boundaries, weaving together stories of migration, resilience, and human connection. It stands as a beacon of hope, fostering understanding and empathy in an ever-changing world.
